Welcome, Calla Grace Cheatwood!

Great news! Calla Grace Cheatwood was born at 4:15am yesterday, July 18th, 2007, after a relatively problem-free labor. She was born 7lbs 0oz, and 20 inches long. She has some hair, but not a huge amount. It appears to be brown and wavy (maybe). It's hard to tell about her eye color, but they are dark, for sure.

You may notice that July 18th was a little before our due date. Kathy's OB decided it was a good idea to induce her to get rid of her preeclampsia, was seemed on Tuesday morning to be getting a bit more intense. Kathy did a wonderful job all day Tuesday and Wednesday in coping with the induction, the birth, and the lingering effects of some well-intended but yucky drugs necessary to battle the potential effects of the preeclampsia. That is all over now, and K is doing very fine. She is up now, walking and taking care of Calla (which is why I am blogging while at home to grab a shower/shave and more batteries to fuel our camera. We will probably all come home together on Friday.

Here she is, minutes after birth!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words, and actions as we went through the pregnancy period. Now, the fun has finally started!

Much Love to All,
Joe, Kathy, and Calla

I recognize that beauty from her "before" shots! Really, though, babies aren't typically this beautiful (and clearly exceptional in every way) right from the get-go.
Sending much love,
Sue-s
