Checking back in

Hello, all. Thanks for checking in for the latest update on Calla Grace. My inattention to this blog is not indicative of her progress: she has been changing rapidly since the last post. She is SUCH a big girl now, you wouldn't believe it. First, she's over six months old now! She had her "6 month well visit" last week, and she weighed in at 15lbs, 6oz! We knew she seemed heavier. This new weight puts her closer to the average weight for her age, but she is still a little light. However, she is still quite tall for her age. At 27 inches, she is taller than 70% of her colleagues. She passed her checkup with flying colors.

Calla is not talking or walking yet, but she is definitely moving in both directions. She has started sticking out her tongue, making "el" sounds a bit, and saying "buh" on occasion. Calla can sit by herself, unsupported, for up to a minute or so before tipping over, which is extremely impressive to see. She is also very dexterous, passing things from hand to hand very readily.

Calla is a good eater. She enjoys all kinds of foods, and doesn't refuse anything, even if she doesn't immediately love them. Carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, prunes, apples, pears, squash, blueberries, spinach, and all manner of cereals fear her, with reason.

It turns out that Calla is loves animals, much like her Dad. She loves our dog Chloe and watches her every second when she is in the room. The cat is also an area of intrigue, but she (the cat) is less likely to make herself available for inspection. Here is a pic that demonstrates Calla's love for Chloe:

Here is a recent video of Calla "reading." Enjoy!
